The Influence System is a brand separate from the Dungeon Defenders II franchise. Its purpose is to allow players to accumulate points by playing and then spend those points to cast a vote on game design decisions in the game launcher or website. Dungeon Defenders II is the first game the Influence System was rolled out with and was considered in “alpha” until further refinements could be made.
Trendy’s partners at Petrol came up with a variety of logo options. Our creative team decided on one and I further refined it to be applicable to the voting widgets that appear in the game launcher and on the website. Layer styles and effects were applied in Photoshop and the mark was redesigned to appear better at small sizes. I worked with our video editor to develop a brief logo animation that would appear before Influence related video content.
The widget allows players to vote on game design decisions using points they accumulate through playing. It appears in the game launcher and on the main newsfeed on the website. The first panel shows what the widget looks like without being logged in. The next two panels show what the widget looks like before and after a vote as been cast.
In addition to allowing players to vote in the game launcher itself, the widget appears on the main newsfeed of the website as well as on the Influence Voting Page where players can learn more about the details of the decisions they are making.
